I have always had a passion for hair since I was a young girl. I followed my dreams and took cosmetology as a vocation in high school. I received my license in 1997 and have been doing what I love for all these years. My passion for hair continues to grow daily, as well as my education as a stylist. I love to stay up to date on all the latest techniques and trends. I have taken numerous classes including advanced balayage placement, creative up-styling, and ammonia-free color techniques. One of the most important things to me is making sure that my clients feel and look absolutely beautiful inside and out when they leave my chair, along with building a lasting relationship. Creativity is a great outlet and I am very blessed to have a career in which I may bring that out in people everyday. I look forward to meeting you!

Diesel Salon is Kensington I prob the best salon I have ever visited. Melissa H. managed to save my hair after I had a nightmare experience at another local salon. The staff are all very nice and the atmosphere is very laid-back but stylish. I don’t think I could possibly imagine my life without having such a great stylist!! If you want the best hair you have had you must visit this salon!
Like another reviewer here, I have somewhat long hair and it is not the easiest hair to get right. I also need to be able to wash it, fluff it and go – no major sessions with blowing out and fussing for me!
After trying 4 stylists and various salons – with disastrous results – I was desparate. I walked in to Diesel Salon Kensington. They introduced me to Melissa H, who immediately saw what needed to be done and rescued me and my hair right then and there. WONDERFUL! So much damage had been done to the shape of my hair that it took a few cuts before I began to recognize ‘my’ easy-do hair! But Melissa H fixed it up.
I also wanted to update my ‘look’ – without a major shock for me or my family. Melissa did it again. I now have a lovely new look, a slight change in color with subtle highlights – and I love it. Thank you Melissa H 🙂
This is my second review for Diesel since I’ve been a client (pssst – that is how happy I am with my service). I have nothing but positive things to say about the Salon in general, however, I have recently been seeing Melissa H. and I am totally freaked at how much I LOVE my hair. But that’s not all!
Melissa is awesome to talk to and is totally down-to-earth, she ALWAYS compliments me on my hair, “I just love your hair!” she will say. She has FUN doing my hair. Melissa makes my color last and is strategic about her recommendations about covering my stubborn grays. I just got a brand new cut and I am absolutely IN LOVE. In the last 2 days I have gotten 12 compliments on my hair. I am serious. It is AWESOME!
I love my hair. I love Melissa. I love Candice. I love Johnny. I LOVE DIESEL!

Have had nothing but a great experience here….being new to sd and a bit of a commitment phobe, it took me forever to find a cool salon with an even cooler stylist. You know how it is when you just get someone? Yep, Melissa H and I just clicked and she is now the recipient of all my loyalty and referrals. She did an incredible job fixing some of the “trouble” areas my old stylist left behind. She’s talkative, patient and upfront. I appreciate that in a stylist! Not to mention, she’s extremely talented. I’ll definitely be back.
Melissa H. is a complete professional as well as delightful to work with. She’s a rockstar with color, knows how to cut my naturally curly hair, and makes design suggestions based on my face shape (that WORK!!). I went through several stylists to find her over a number of years. She’s a dream. Funny and warm but won’t talk your ear off either. Precise, efficient, an absolute pro, and funny. JUST DO IT! GO!!!
